Dear Students,
On Tuesday 11th August the NZ Government announced that Auckland would move to Level 3 at midday 12th August in response to contain the spread of Covid-19.
All Tasman staff are prepared and ready for online delivery should this situation occur.
Staff are familiar with “Zoom” as the online delivery app for your online lessons. The teaching staff will assist you in installing this app and providing you with the code to access your on-line delivery. Classes will run at regular times with any variations negotiated with your teachers.
Please Log in 15 minutes before your session is due to start using the ZOOM app you have set up on your phone or computer. You must attend your classes at those scheduled times, and your attendance will be taken as usual. No excuses for lateness. The attendance will be taken at the time the class commences. IF YOU ARE NOT ONLINE AT CLASS START TIME YOU ARE ABSENT.
If you are sick, you must contact the school in the same way by email or phone. Doctor’s certificates or Covid-19 testing results must be provided either to email to nan@tasman.ac.nz or your teacher immediately.
All assessments due must be submitted on time. If you are late in submitting without prior approval, your action will result in a fail. In that case, you will need to re-enrol and pay a fee to do the assessment again on completion of your current studies.
Your teacher will outline the program for the week and explain any assessments to be prepared and the date due.
You must manage your study. You will need to do more work by yourself. You should use this time to improve your self-study skills.
Principles at Alert Level 3 for education facilities
Education facilities should continue providing education services under the principles below, in conjunction with more detailed guidance provided under Alert Level 3.
All teaching and other activities should be done remotely wherever possible.
Where it is not possible to deliver teaching online, some facilities may remain open (e.g. for research, post-graduate teaching, lab/workshops, or noho-based delivery).
Any class, workshops, etc. that remains open must be limited to 10 people or less. Each group is considered a ‘bubble’ and should not interact with any other student/staff bubbles of 10.
Distance learning provision will be available for others students.
Physical distancing requirements must be met in all situations.
Student accommodation should remain open and in a position to provide appropriate support to allow students to self-isolate, as required.
Large classes or gatherings (of more than ten people) are not allowed.
Workplace-based learning is subject to the policies and practices being applied to that type of workplace.
Any educational facilities affected by COVID-19 will be closed for a specific period of time.
If you have any questions, please email your teacher in advance, so we can assist you through our channels of communication, such as email or landline/mobile call.

Tasman Responsibilities
Under all COVID-19 Alert Levels, it is critical that organisations take steps to enable the contact tracing of people who have had possible exposure to the virus.
TEOs are required to maintain an up-to-date record of all people (staff, learners, contractors, etc.) who visit or attend their campuses and facilities.
The record is to include staff and students attending sites for tuition where permitted under the relevant Alert Level 3 rules.
The organisation must keep detailed records, in a form readily accessed, of the following information on every individual who attends or visits the site:
Names, contact details, specific classrooms visited to date and time of attendance/visit.
The level of detail in these records must be sufficient to enable tracing of individuals in the event of possible exposure to the virus.
ICT & NZCEL students can access their courses online and will continue to do so until the Government advises otherwise and on instructions from your teacher.
Student Responsibilities – On arriving at the campus
All students to sign-in on the appropriate sheet, (i.e. the attendance Roll) wipe down their workplace before commencing and again once their task is completed.
Students must leave the campus immediately they have signed out on the sheet provided. (Usually the attendance rolls).
Tasman has a responsibility to and must keep detailed records, in a form readily accessed, of the following information on every individual who attends or visits the site:
A space of approximately 1 metre per student is the normal procedure in the classroom and will apply. In the common areas such as the reception, a 2-metre space between persons will apply.
All students to, wipe down their workplace before commencing and again once the task is completed before leaving the classroom.
Students must leave the campus immediately once the class finishes and they have signed out on the sheet provided.

Tasman is planning FOR Normal classes to resume on the Monday 31st August if Alert Level 2 has been confirmed.
If the lockdown is to be extended beyond the 26th August by the Government, then normal class dates WILL NOT commence until further notice.
Tasman will continue to update you with a Newsletters or face to face communication as the situation changes in the NEAR future.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Masks are compulsory at Level 3. Students must provide their own mask
Bring your own water bottle as the kitchen will be monitored.”
If there is a break (i.e. Lunch), then correct social distancing will apply with no mixing with other classes. Preferably have your lunch off the campus.
Once the session is over, you must sign the appropriate form and leave the campus immediately.
If your teacher advises you that you do have a class at the Tasman Campus, there are rules and tracks that have been put in place that must be followed.
To ensure this when you do come to the campus, you must follow these rules without fail, or you will be asked to leave immediately and not able to return until the Alert level is such all students can formally return to the campus.
Your teacher will advise you when there is to be a class at the campus. If this is so then the above rules must not be broken.
Once again the staff above are on call for you should the holiday cause you some stress. We at Tasman realise this and want you to know that you are not alone.Look after yourselves and keep online communication with your friends, family, classmates, and teachers.
Sincerely,
Dene Collison
