This Programme is suitable for people who have some knowledge of English and/orhave been studying NZCEL level 2 or IELTS and wish to enhance their English knowledge and skills

Programme Structure

Listening and Speaking

NZCEL Level 3 (Applied) will learn to listen and comprehend spoken lectures or presentations in English and they can integrate interactive listening and speaking in English for Academic purposes. 

Writing and Reading

Graduates of this Programme, on successful completion, will be able to read and comprehend book, papers, and databases written in English and write referenced documents such as essays , reports or short statements.

NZCEL Level 3 (Applied) course will give you the opportunity to improve the four basic English language skills with a focus on preparation at applying them at higher levels of learning

NZCEL Pathway

NZCEL (Level 3) Applied is recognised and approved by NZQA as English Proficiency Outcomes for International students. You could undertake further study at higher levels.

Also, once you have successfully graduated from NZCEL level 3 (Applied) programme, you will have the skills to achieve a higher Academic IELTS bands score or other English tests.

Entry Requirements

You must hold the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2) or equivalent knowledge and skills. 

International students for whom English is not their first language must have a minimum IELTS (General or Academic) score of 5.0 with no band score lower than 4.5 or NZQA approved equivalent or have passed NZCEL placement test at Tasman to secure a seat in our English Programmes. 

Overall your level of English must be sufficient enough to cope with the level of the programme and its content. All applicants are interviewed, and their English language skills observed and assessed prior to the start of the Course.
