NZ Diploma in IT Technical Support
(Level 5)
The IT Course at Tasman International Academies in Auckland, is a Diploma in Information and Communication Technology Technical Support (Level 5). This course provides students with the knowledge to work with current computing technologies and trend that meet industry requirements. You will gain a broad, skilled understanding of computer industry concepts in support and operations in order to specialise in IT.
Studying the IT Level 5 course, you will gain knowledge and practical skills to can be used in the organisations and develop academic abilities to pursue further studies such as a Diploma in Information Technology (Level 7).
Programme structure
The assessment aims towards achieving high level of proficiency in demonstrating knowledge and understanding in operation systems and system s upport. It provides an ability to students to apply technical knowledge about installing, configuring, managing and test IT systems software and hardware, along with cloud services and virtualisation network.
The assessment aim is to achieve proficiency in candidate performance in applying knowledge of computer architecture. It provides students with an ability to learn to identify and resolve common system problems using IT tools and procedures. It provides students with an understanding of system and application types and of IT service in management and organisation.
Computer Networks
The assessment aims towards achieving proficiency in candidate performance in demonstrating and creating a Local Area Network. Students will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in installing LAN/WAN devices and implementing network services in relation to user rights and permissions access data and applications.
Programming Principles
The assessment aim is to achieve proficiency in understanding Programming Principles. Our students will be able to apply their knowledge in designing, developing and testing the software using object oriented programing.
Database Principles
The assessment aims towards achieving proficiency in understanding Database Principles. Students will be able to apply their knowledge and skills in identifying and resolving issues related to IT, Database management, database security, optimization, interface and backup.
Information Technology Operations
The assessment aim is to achieve proficiency in candidate performance in applying knowledge of computer architecture. This course provides students with an understanding of computer architecture in computer systems and allows students to apply knowledge in managing software operations and computer networking.
Information Technology Professional practice
This course aims to inculcate knowledge of network security, wider infrastructure security, organisational security, cryptography, computer security and other important security procedures and policies. This paper develops critical understanding of network attacks, vulnerabilities, threats and defences against them through network- and host based security technologies and practice.
Business system Analysis
The assessment aim is towards achieving proficiency in candidate performance in applying knowledge of computer architecture. It provides students with the skills to analyse the principles and concepts of business and the impact of IT on business. It provides students with an ability to implement database application and create web services for business progression.
you will be able to:
Select, install and configure IT hardware and systems software to meet organisational requirements.
Apply a broad operational knowledge of networking and associated services and technologies to meet typical organisational requirements.
Configure and administer systems and applications to meet typical organisational IT support requirements.
Apply a broad operational knowledge of database administration to meet typical organisational data storage and retrieval requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve a range of common system problems using appropriate tools and procedures.
Entry Requirements
There are no mandatory prerequisites for this qualification.
Applicants enrolling are recommended to hold one of the following qualifications, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, but not compulsorily:
- NCEA Level 2 or 3
- New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)
- New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4)
- New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4)
- New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology (Level 5)
International Students must have IELTS of 5.5 overall with no band score lower than 5.0 or NZQA approved equivalent.
